State & federal tax deadline extended after IRS issues
If the error with Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday led to you having issues with filing your taxes, good news is ahead.
Both the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue have are giving citizens until Wednesday at midnight to file.
" April 17 is the busiest tax day of the year, and the IRS apologizes for the inconvenience this system issue caused for taxpayers," said Acting IRS Commissioner David Kautter. "The IRS appreciates everyone's patience during this period. The extra time will help taxpayers affected by this situation."
"We understand that this issue has affected many taxpayers," said DOR Commissioner Lynne Riley. "The Department of Revenue seeks to ensure every taxpayer has the opportunity to file timely, so the Department has decided to follow the IRS and extend the state tax filing deadline."
