Report: Teen shot to death in Lizella pulled gun first
MACON, Ga. (WGXA) - A recently released incident report has revealed new information about the death of a 16-year-old Macon boy.
The teen was found shot to death in a Lizella home around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday with "serious trauma to the head," according to the report.
The report from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office also states that two men involved, identified as Logan Nettles, 19, and David Billingsley, 23, told authorities that the victim arrived at a home on Briar Creek Trail in Lizella to trade a Glock pistol for an AR-15 with one of the men.
Both men told the deputy that one of them let the victim into the home and the victim cocked the pistol and pointed it at the head of one of the men.
The other man shot the victim with an AR pistol, the report states. The two men then grabbed the victim's pistol and ran out the back door because the van the victim arrived in was still outside of the home with people in it, according to the men.
The men told the deputy they then ran through some woods and one man said he threw the AR pistol into a storm drain.
One of the men called a family member to pick them up on Eisenhower Parkway and take them to the sheriff's office.
The report states that once at the sheriff's office, the men voluntarily turned over the Glock to the deputy. The deputy found one round in the gun's chamber and a loaded magazine.
Both Nettles and Billingsley were questioned by investigators and released. No charges have been filed.
