Clay County deputy shot twice
A Clay County Sheriff's Deputy is in an Alabama hospital after being shot twice Wednesday.
Officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say that the sheriff's office received a call shortly after 11 a.m and Deputy Ted Bell responded.
When Bell entered the home, the GBI says that he was shot twice in the abdomen by 46-year-old Matthew Collier.
Bell was able to get to his vehicle and retrieve a rifle while waiting on EMS and backup officers.
Collier surrendered himself to Bell shortly afterwards. He now faces charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault on a public safety officer.
Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI office in Sylvester at (229)777-2080.
