Publix recalls dried fruit mix for possible contamination

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall for one of its dried fruit mixes.

According to a release from the grocery chain, the Publix brand Tropical Medley Mix may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

Publix officials said they were told about the potential contamination by a supplier of dried apricots.

The 5.7-oz clear, plastic containers of the mix were sold in Publix produce departments in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina with a UPC of 41415-08586. All "use by dates" are being recalled.

"As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. "To date, there have been no reported cases of illness. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund.
