Albany/Tifton included in national Boy Scout Sex Abuse Allegations
On Thursday October 18, 2012 Boy Scouts of America released years worth of documents from the 1960's to the 1990's showing how authorities allegedly helped cover up sex abuse allegations within the organization.
Out of thousands of cases worldwide â" Southwest Georgia was included in the documents.
After a quick review Fox 31 was able to find local cases in the extensive documentation. There were multiple cases in Southwest Georgia between the years 1966-1997. The cases were located in Albany, Blakely, and Tifton.
Only one of the Albany cases has corresponding documentation. It states the Scoutmaster was arrested by Dougherty County Police and faced two charges of sodomy.
Fox 31 is working on this story and will have more details as they become available.
