WWII memorial finds home in Albany
Within the next month, folks in Albany will be able to visit a World War II Memorial at Veterans Park.
The monument will be placed between the Oglethorpe Bridge and the amphitheater near the Vietnam Memorial.
Although the city did vote to allow the monument, it didn't cost anything out of the budget.
Several veterans organizations came together and raised over $19,000 to build the tribute.
"We want to get this thing up while those who are still alive can enjoy it and also as a reminder to us that the 16 million that served saved us from dictatorship from either by Germany or Japan," said Charles Nicholson, Post 30 Senior Director.
Charles Nicholson says any additional funds raised will go towards funding a Korean War Memorial.
