Worth County Primary School is changing their policy regarding the way parents pick up children after school.
The principal told FOX 31 effective Monday there will be two pick-up lines with specific numbered areas. Parents will be ushered in and told to park in one of the spots, their child's name will then be called out and they'll be walked to the car.
The principal says this is a safer and more efficient way of doing things. Today they let the children out around 2:45 p.m. and pick up was over by 3:15 p.m. Staff only expects this number to improve as the days go by.
Not everyone is happy about the change in policy, however. One parent told FOX 31 she doesn't feel it's safe to have the kids walking in front of cars and doesn't want her son to be a part of it.
She told FOX 31 when she showed up to the school today on foot, as she does every day, she was told she would have to wait until the car pick-up was over for her son to be dismissed.
The principal also told FOX 31 that if parents want to pick up their children by foot they will have to wait until 3:15 p.m. to do so.
The concerned parent plans on continuing to pick up her son on foot and is hopeful it won't be a problem.
