The Women's Federated Club of Albany on N. Van Buren Street gave out scholarship awards and announced their woman of the year on Thursday afternoon
Barbara Brown was named Woman of the Year. She was selected for her accomplishments in spearheading several community projects.
She's worked with the Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, high schools and hospitals. Barbara said she is passionate about an ongoing project in which she is collecting scarves and hats for cancer patients.
"I'm so excited. I never imagined that I would be up here celebrating this award. I mean, I was really surprised," said Barbara Brown.
The Women's Club also passed out scholarships for both education and arts.
