      Women sent to Phoebe following afternoon wreck

      UPDATE (4:00 PM):

      The Albany Police Department confirms that 40-year-old Latanya Hooks was driving a 2005 Silver Jaguar north on MLK Saturday afternoon and failed to yield at the red light striking a Ford Focus driven by 75-year-old Shirley Roberts.

      Hooks was cited with a red light violation.

      Both drivers were transported to the hospital with complaints of injuries.

      ORIGINAL STORY:

      The Albany Police Department, Albany Fire Department and EMS responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of West Oakridge Drive an Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Saturday afternoon.

      The vehicles involved are a silver Jaguar and a green Ford Focus.

      Batallion Chief Ambrose tells FOX 31 that firefighters were called to the scene to help with the extraction of passengers in the Jaguar.

      Minor injuries were reported. One woman involved in the wreck was transported by ambulance to Phoebe for treatment. ã
