Wig wearing robbery suspect busted by police

Lowndes County Sheriff's officials say they have arrest a man after a convenience store clerk was robbed and assaulted.

They say that on Saturday evening around 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call from the clerk at Bo's BP on North St. Augustine Road.

Upon arrival, they learned from the clerk that a man had entered the business with a handgun and demanded money. The clerk complied but was assaulted by the man who struck her repeatedly with the gun. She was then forced into a storage room and the suspect fled the station with money, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Soon after he incidents, deputies stopped a vehicle on Val Tech Road and learned that the driver had dropped off a male in the parking lot of the Commons Apartments.

Deputies say they located 20-year-old Deharvene Sanchez Demps in his apartment and placed him under arrest. Inside the apartment, investigators located multiple items of evidence including the firearm, which was determined to be a BB gun and a wig worn during the robbery.

Demps faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping.
