Worth County is expanding it's airport, and with that FOX 31 found who's paying for that expansion.

Sylvester Mayor Bill Yearta says the $2 million project is being funded by a One Georgia grant given to Sylvester a few years ago.

The expansion will lengthen the airports runway 4500 feet, from the current 3300 feet runway.

The Mayor says this project will help bring more business to the area.

"It's all about economic development in our community being able to land corporate planes and larger planes in our community so we can expand our industries here."

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
