According to the Albany Police Department, Albany has seen an influx of burglaries and armed robberies, particularly in the East district.
Most recently, the Subway on the east side has been robbed and so has the Dollar General in the central district.
So FOX 31 asked officials with the Albany Police Department what you should do if you are faced in that kind of situation.
They say if you work at a business, you should adhere to what policies are already set. They add that if you are at home and you are faced with someone trying to rob you, officials say do what that suspect wants you to do, don't start a confrontation.
If they ask you for anything, give it them.
Phyllis Banks, Media Manager with the Albany Police Department says, "when people are faced with an armed robbery focus on getting a good description, look at their weight, skin color, the sound of their voice and their direction of travel." Banks adds that their best resource when catching criminals sometimes is help from the public.
And if you're every faced with any type of armed robbery or burglary situation, you're urged to contact police.
