Anyone living in Southwest Georgia has the potential to be injured during the storm season, and officials say there are ways to avoid it.

Dougherty County EMS officials say the worst thing someone could do during or after severe weather strikes is go outside and try to drive.

They add that the best thing you can do when there's severe weather is ride it out indoors.

Michael Pinson, with the Dougherty County EMS says, "driving on the roadways when its heavy rain, sometimes drains do back up streets get back up with water and everything which is very dangerous."

He adds that if conditions are ever bad in your area, for any situation especially severe weather, call 911 and help will be on the way.
