The Water Gas and Light Board announced Thursday afternoon that Stephen Collier will be the new interim general manager.
Collier has been with the city for 33 years already.
Board members took turns welcoming Collier and expressing their thoughts about his new leadership role.
One board member mentioned that there have been four people in his seat over the past year and stressed how much of a challenge this job is and how much change they've gone through.
Collier said he's extremely excited to be here and thankful for the opportunity.
He said he had a pep talk from both Tom Berry and James Taylor who asked him to bring his talents to WGL.
Collier said his approach is to be aggressive and efficient.
