In Thursday morning's Water Gas and Light Commission meeting, one of the big discussions revolved around approving several purchases that will total over $100,000.
These purchases are new utility trucks and a new bucket truck for the light department.
Officials with the light department say this has been a need for several years but they weren't able to purchase them due to not having enough money. WG&L's financial situation is looking a little better this year than last year and they are finally able to make these purchases.
Without the new trucks, officials say they would actually be spending even more money in repairs on the older vehicles.
