"Weed Week" has wrapped up for Dougherty County and over the past two days, the Dougherty County District Attorney's Office has handled over 40 drug related cases.
Out of those cases, 27 defendants pled guilty to drug charges.
Among the defendants was Vincent Jackson, who was connected to a high speed chase along Slappey Boulevard. He pled guilty to all of the charges against him and will be sentenced Wednesday.
Robert Johnson also pled guilty to the charges that he faced. Johnson has been sentenced to 25 years with at least 15 years to be served in prison.
Edwards says the purpose of "Weed Week" is to convenience law enforcement agencies. He adds that for most drug cases, the state has to call in state lab officials as witnesses and its easier to round them up in one week.
