The Water, Gas, and Light Commission held a meeting Thursday morning to swear in two new commission members and discuss the plans to start the search for a new general manager.
Two new members, Chad Warbington and Judith Corbett, Both say they are ready to hit the ground running and start learning the ropes.
The other discussion, however, was not as cheerful. Last week, general manager Lemuel Edwards announced his resignation.
The current board members told Edwards how much they enjoyed working with him and how much he will be missed.
They also started discussions about what will be in the job description for the next general manager, some of the requirements they are looking for in a candidate, and how long they expect the search to take.
In the meantime, the board asked Albany City Manager James Taylor to step in as interim general manager, to which he accepted.
Albany mayor Dorothy Hubbard said finding a new general manager will be a challenge but she hopes they will find a replacement for Edwards within the next six months.
