An executive session was held in Warwick Monday night to discuss the election of the new police chief.
Warwick Attorney Tommy Coleman tells FOX 31 that the council worked to select six candidates out of sixteen applications.
There will be six interviews and the group will be narrowed down to three people.
The three finalists will be announced and after fourteen days, the council will select one person to become the next police chief.
FOX 31 hit the streets to ask citizens what they are looking for in a police chief and one residents said, "it was a whole lot better when we had a smaller police force and not so much emphasis on Highway 300. They used to patrol the city more and not the highway.
