The Department of Driver Services has been experiencing a statewide computer outage (with some intermittent service) at all licensing and testing centers according to a press release issued by the department.
Officials say that the early indications are that the issue is vendor-related, and DDS continues to work closely with everyone involved to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, there is still no estimated time on the resolution.
"The problem appears to stem from faulty network hardware," said Alan Moore, MorphoTrust USA Senior Vice President for Program Operations. "We are troubleshooting and anticipate having the system online and stable by morning."
Customers that are currently visiting DDS centers are provided service updates, and it is the DDS' goal to complete their service. For customers that have not visited a DDS location today, we would recommend planning to come a different day.
Officials say that they apologize for the inconvenience and that Tuesday is always the busiest day for visiting a DDS.
Many services like replacing a lost or stolen license and paying certain citations may be done online at www.dds.ga.gov.
