Wagner's BBQ closes after 19 years

FOX 31 has received multiple calls and questions about what happened to Wagner's Barbeque on Sylvester Road and whether or not they were closed. We tried calling the restaurant by phone Wednesday, but the number was disconnected. We then went by Wednesday evening and found three signs left up on the main entrance door. The first was one left by the family saying that It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the closing of our family business. We would like to thank you for your patronage for the past 19 years. The second was left to future tenants that no building can be occupied as a food service establishment without prior approval by the Environmental Health Section of the Dougherty County Health Department. Representatives from the Southwest Georgia Public Health District say that they place those signs on any closing restaurants as a courtesy to future owners to make sure potential restaurants are aware of food service codes and regulations. The third was a notice from Water, Gas, and Light dated July 9, 2014 asking for payment of utility services to the tune of $2,824.07. Late Wednesday evening, this message was posted to the Wagner's BBQ Facebook page:For the last 19 years, Wagner TMs BBQ has proudly served the Albany community, providing a quality product at a fair price in a family-friendly atmosphere.
