Multiple counties across Southwest Georgia are asking for voluntary evacuations and relocations as Hurricane Irma approaches.

Ben Hill, Coffee, Lowndes, Turner and Colquitt County EMA officials have announced a voluntary evacuation county wide and that if you are worried about remaining in the counties, you need to consider evacuating.

Berrien and Tift County officials are asking voluntarily asking those in mobile homes or recreational vehicles to take shelter elsewhere or to seek refuge outside of the counties.

All EMA officials stress that high winds may prevent first responders from getting to you in a timely manner in case of an emergency.
