Valdosta traffic accident turns into homicide investigation
What originally was thought to be a traffic accident has turned into a double homicide in Valdosta.
Investigators say that officers were called out to the 600 block of York Street Sunday morning around 1 a.m. to respond to a traffic accident.
Officers found that a vehicle had struck two electrical poles and that the occupants in the car, 19-year-old Geneva Norwood and 26-year-old Clarence Burnett, were dead.
However, officers found that they had gunshot wounds and the case became a homicide investigation.
“Initial indications reflects this case may be drug-related based on an examination of the vehicle. However, the investigation is in its beginning phases and there is more evidence to review,” stated Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress.
