Two people have been arrested after a Sunday evening armed robbery at the Family Dollar on East Central Avenue.

Valdosta police say upon their arrival, they were told that a black male entered the store, displayed what appeared to be a handgun wrapped up in a t-shirt and then took an unknown amount of money from the register.

The man then left the store on foot, but was seen getting into a grey Dodge Magnum driven by a black female a short distance away.

However, a VPD officer that had just gotten off duty seen the Magnum on Highway 84 near Naylor.

The officer got behind the vehicle and ran the plates, with the car coming back as reported stolen.

The Magnum was followed until a sheriff's deputy in Clinch County conducted a traffic stop and identified the occupants as 24-year-old Alicia Sault and 29-year-old Cecil Williams.

A robbery witness went to the scene with a detective and was able to positively identify Williams.

Both were arrested with Williams being charged for armed robbery and Sault being charged with armed robbery-party to the crime.
