Using Cinco de Mayo to encourage healthy living
The Morningside United Methodist Church and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital held their second annual free health fair this afternoon in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
The event was held to encourage the Hispanic community to come out and learn healthy tips while enjoying themselves.
Free hearing, diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings were given as well as a healthy lunch to those who attended.
Dr. Augusto Soltero from the Phoebe Family Care Center spoke to the lunch crowd about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercise.
The fair was held to emphasize the importance of early diagnosis to prevent major health problems.
