Universities wait on Board of Regents for campus carry legislation
ALBANY, Ga. —
Universities are waiting on the Georgia Board of Regents for instructions on the campus carry legislation.
House bill 280 was signed by Governor Deal Thursday with an effective date of July 1.
This law will allow licensed students to carry guns on college campuses with certain restrictions.
The Board of Regents released a statement and said universities shouldn’t make any changes until they send the final direction. They say it’s important that the university systems work together to put this new law into place.
