United Way of Southwest Georgia took time to honor those who help bring positivity into the southwest Georgia community.

During an annual meeting, several companies received awards for their contributions.

Target and UPS took home awards for being pacesetters in the community while Procter and Gamble took home the Community Ambassador Award.

Proctor and Gamble donated over $290,000 to United Way this year.

For fiscal year 2012-2013, United Way raised close to $1.1 million.

"This year was a great year for us. We raised more money this year than we raised last year and with some internal restructuring we were able to put more money back into the community to our nonprofit agencies," said Lakisha Bryant Bruce, United Way of Southwest Georgia CEO and President.
