Unfamiliar faces welcomed into schools for one night only

Dougherty County schools will host their open house for all grades on Thursday as a way to help ease into the first week of school as smoothly as possible.
Officials encourage all 9th graders, new students and those who are rezoned to attend the open house to help calm any jitters that come with change.
"If you've never visited the building before or met any of the people, anybody's uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable to go to a new place with new faces and not know anybody so open house gives children and parents the opportunity of getting to know people and getting to know their surroundings," said DCSS Public Relations Director R.D. Harter.
Elementary school students are welcomed from 4-6 p.m., middle school students from 5-7 p.m. and high school students can learn their surroundings from 6-8 p.m.
