Unemployment dips in Albany and Southwest GA
New data from the Georgia Department of Labor shows Albany's unemployment rate dropped to 11.4 percent in February, down from 11.6 percent in January.
The unemployment rate for all of Southwest Georgia dropped to 11.2 percent in February, down from 11.3 percent in January. Georgia's unemployment rate rose to a record 10.5 percent in February. This marks the 29th consecutive month that Georgia has exceeded the U.S. unemployment rate.
