According to the Tifton Gazette, 26-year-old Shun Ricardo Waters of Ty-Ty has been arrested and charged with speeding, driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and obstruction with force after speeding away from a traffic stop and later crashing his car.

The Gazette says that according to an incident report filed at the Tifton Police Department, a Tifton police officer reported Tuesday afternoon that while on traffic duty on Interstate 75, he saw a blue Nissan Sentra with a Tenneson Nissan drive-out tag traveling at a high rate of speed. He activated his emergency lights and siren with the vehicle stopping just north of the 63-B entrance ramp. The officer made contact with the driver and informed him of the reason for the stop and asked for his license and proof of insurance. The driver said he had forgotten his license and proof of insurance in his desk at the Tenneson Nissan dealership. After getting contact infomation and returning to his vehicle, Waters drove off and failed to stop. He radioed dispatch of what had occurred and asked them to check if the subject was employed at or if the vehicle may have been stolen. He also advised Lt. Terry Kiser of the situation and while doing so, he saw the offender at Exit 64, where he continued down the ramp at a high rate of speed, running through the stop sign, just missing a northbound vehicle as he turned left on U.S. Highway 41.

The Gazette says that the officer was told to stop the pursuit. Shortly afterwards, the officer came upon a crash scene of the vehicle. As he went to check on Waters, he climbed out of the vehicle and ran. A short struggle ensued, but the officer was able to put handcuffs on Waters with backup arriving shortly.
