Turning a negative into a positive

Although the Government shutting down may have caused a lot of local people to be out of work, that doesn't mean they're just sitting at home. Officials at Chehaw Park say since the shut down they've had an influx of people showing up and signing up to volunteer.

Although the Government shutting down may have caused a lot of local people to be out of work, that doesn't mean they're just sitting at home.

Officials at Chehaw Park say since the shut down they've had an influx of people showing up and signing up to volunteer.

Park Director Kevin Hils says about a dozen people have signed up which is not only a big help for them but it keeps their minds of their troubles.

"If you got something going on it tends to change your mind set so that you're not so focused on what could be a negative experience," says Hils.

He adds that if you would like to volunteer, just go to their website chehaw.org and sign up.
