Turner EMA tells FOX 31 that they're installing new sirens in Rebecca and Sycamore.
This project is funded by the Emergency Management Performance Grant.
Turner EMA Deputy Director Kerri Calhoun says, "you can't be ready for everything but the object behind being storm ready is having a plan. It shortens the amount of time it takes to get pertinent information from the National Weather Service to the community and from the community to the Weather Service; therefore, you have as little of a delay as possible in getting pertinent information out to save time and lives."
With the addition of the two new sirens, 1,700 more people will be able to hear them when severe weather threatens the area.
