      Tuesday night basketball recap

      Teams continued to battle for playoff position in another full slate of high school basketball in Southwest Georgia on Tuesday night.

      In 4A, the upset of the night occurred between Westover and Americus-Sumter. After a foul call on a screen in the closing minutes, the Panthers converted a late free throw to beat Westover, 59-58. In the girls TM game, the Lady Patriots beat Americus handily, 41-28.

      Worth County TMs boys capitalized on Westover TMs loss by beating Cairo to jump into sole possession of first place in 4A-1. Cairo TMs girls beat the Lady Rams, 64-45.

      In Cordele, Crisp County hosted the Dougherty Trojans and both games were close. The Crisp County boys won, 70-65. The Dougherty girls won, 45-40.

      In 6-A, the Colquitt County boys TM and girls TM teams handled Valdosta High. The boys won, 59-54. The girls won, 57-49.

      In some private school hoops, Sherwood Christian TMs boys topped Valwood, 54-48. Sherwood TMs girls TM team also won, 71-51, behind 21 points and 8 rebounds from Madison Walker.
