TSA making changes to airport security checks

New scanners show just an outline instead of a detailed body / Ashley Knight

The Transportation Security Administration is changing up the way you go through airport security right before the holidays.

Now, kids age 12 and under do not have to take their shoes off, unless agents find something suspicious.

And, at the bigger airports, full body scanners are using new software that replaces a detailed outline of your body with a generic image.

"There were a lot of complaints so finally the technology has come out that kind of just shows a ginger bread man kind of thing and doesn't show anything on your body, so that's a lot better," says Yvette Aehle, Director of the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport.

Aehle says they hope to have the new scanners when the new terminal is built.
