Trimming the tree for a safe holiday
After you pick your perfect tree, it's usually time to decorate. Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose has a few tips for decorating around your kids and pets.
Ambrose says to make sure you have a thoroughly watered trees before you hang Christmas lights. He also advises to check for damaged cords; but specifically with kids and pets he said, "The little ones (kids) putting the smaller bulbs and lights in their mouth â| a lot of ornaments are glass and very easily break and that can be a cut hazard." He adds, to make sure pets aren't around your cords or chewing them.
Lastly, if you're hanging strings of lights be sure not to over amp your socket.
