FOX 31 has learned that the Douglas man trapped 15-feet underground in his well was 47-year-old Geronimo Delgado.
Reports from family members at the scene are that rescue teams extracted Delgado around 6:00 AM Sunday morning, however Delgado had already died at some point during the night.
The Coffee County Fire Department and Georgia Search and Rescue responded to a call that there was a man trapped in a collapsed well off of Mink Road, Saturday morning.
According to his neighbor, he had been building this well for the past couple of days.
Today while working on it, it collapsed causing him to fall twelve to fifteen feet. Officials say that he is in a vertical position but barely responsive.
The Trench Rescue Team, specially trained for these situations, has been called in from Waycross to assist with the rescue.
Officials are building a wall around him and have given him an oxygen mask and a bucket to put on his head.
The dirt is a loose sand and is continuing to collapse around him.
Fox 31 will have more details as they become available.
