Traffic on Newton Road slowed after accident

First Update (12:15 p.m.)
DCP Corporal Robert James says that the investigation so far shows that the semi-trailer hit the box truck after the drive of the box truck pulled over to look at a map.

James says the box truck wasn't completely out of the road.

Two semi-trailers were driving side-by-side and one of them was unable to move out of the way before striking the box truck.

The driver of the box truck was taken to Phoebe with back injuries.

Charges are pending at this time

Dougherty County Police and the Albany Fire Department are at the scene of a Newton Road accident where it appears that a box truck hit a semi-truck, causing it to land on the guard rail.

A tow company has been brought in to get the truck off the rail.

DCP officers are directing traffic in the vicinity of the accident, but traffic is moving slowly in the area due to the accident.
