Marine Reserve Detachment kicked off their 2012 Toys for Tots campaign on Monday at the Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany.

Marine Reservists with Detachment 2, Supply Company, 4th Supply Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group partnered with the Albany Salvation Army to collect toys for underprivileged children.

Toys for Tots bins will be placed around Albany during the collection; to donate, drop off an unwrapped toy between $10-$15 in value for a boy or girl up to twelve years old.

Over 14,000 toys and $9,000 were collected for 4,000 children in the area in 2011.

Gunnery Sergeant Kenneth Starkey says he enjoys being part of this drive and giving children a Christmas that may not have had one without the donations.

Gunnery Sgt. Starkey also says a special thanks to the staff on base who refinished the Toys for Tots train this year.
