Tornado WATCH extended across SWGA Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado WATCH for all of western counties in South Georgia until 12 a.m. Monday.

A Tornado Watch is issued when the conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area. Their size can vary depending on the weather situation. They are usually issued for a duration of 4 to 8 hours in advance of the actual occurrence of severe weather.

The Tornado Watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles northeast of Troy, AL to 70 miles southwest of Panama City, FL. This Tornado Watch now includes: Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Lee, Miller, Randolph, Seminole and Terrell County.
