      Toddler struck by vehicle in Coffee County

      Georgia State Patrol officials have said that 1-year-old Ke'asia Jackson, who was hit by a truck Tuesday afternoon, has passed away.

      Jackson passed Tuesday afternoon at Coffee Regional Medical Center.

      Charges are pending with the outcome of the investigation being performed by the Georgia State Patrol.

      A little girl is fighting for her life after being struck by a truck this afternoon.

      The accident happened at an apartment complex north of Douglas on Highway 135 in the Oak Park Community.

      Coffee County Sheriff's officials say 911 received a call around 2:00 PM Tuesday that a 1-year-old toddler had had been hit.

      When they arrived on the scene, witnesses stated that the driver of the truck was leaving the apartment complex when he called out for someone to get the children out of the way. Captain Ken Floyd stated that one woman pulled the children out of the vehicles path but as the driver began to drive backwards, the little girl ran behind the truck.

      She suffered life threatening injuries and was lifeflighted to a hospital.

      No other children were injured in the accident.

      Georgia State Patrol was called out to investigate the accident. This case is still under investigation.
