ATLANTA (AP) - Police in Atlanta say a toddler has died from injuries sustained when the car they were in was struck by a tractor trailer.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones says the 2-year-old died Tuesday night.
Police say the child was in a car with another child in parking lot when the truck swerved into it to avoid an oncoming car that had crossed the yellow line.
Jones said the accident was being investigated.
UPDATE: ATLANTA (AP) - Police in Atlanta say a 19-year-old woman has been charged with vehicular homicide involving an accident that sent a tractor trailer hurtling into a parking lot, where it struck three cars, killing a 2-year-old sitting in one of them.
Police say Kelly Canty was driving a car that crossed a yellow line on an Atlanta street on Tuesday and collided with a tractor trailer, which wound up in an Autozone lot.
Officers say 2-year-old Zion Curney was in a car with a 14-year-old cousin while an adult shopped.
The toddler and his cousin were taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where Zion died Tuesday night.
Police say Canty also is charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain her lane and driving without a license, insurance or tag.
