As the new school year begins, a new policy will be impacting Albany State University students, faculty and staff.
ASU is banning the use of "tobacco products" on campus to comply with the University System of Georgia policies. Banned products include cigarettes, cigars, pipes, all forms of smokeless tobacco, clove cigarettes and any smoking device that uses tobacco such as hookahs, or simulate the use of tobacco such as electronic cigarettes.
The policy applies to people entering indoor or outdoor areas, including buildings and parking lots.
New signs at the university will inform the campus community and visitors about the Tobacco and Smoke-Free Campus policy.
The policy goes into effect October 1.
