Albany continues its relationship with the upcoming movie "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" by joining in on a sock drive in honor of the film.
The Albany Convention and Visitor's Bureau is sponsoring the drive along with the Terrell County Chamber of Commerce to collect socks to warm and comfort the feet of families in need.
The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions began this goal on July 9th along with The Walt Disney Studios and Hanes. The corporation reached out to Albany after the town was used for part of the movie's filming.
Albany CVB's Manager of Marketing and Communications, Jenny Collins, says the town is very excited to be part of the movie and such a good cause.
"It is so important to have clean and good socks for our homeless because as they're moving, as they're traveling, they're wearing down their socks and it's bad for their feet. This is just a way to reach out to them, to our local community," said Collins.
The drive begins on August 15th, the movie's release date, and will run until September 3rd.
To get involved, look for the donation boxes located in the Albany Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the Albany Chamber of Commerce, Wynnsong Theatre, both Shoe Box locations and the Terrell County Chamber of Commerce.
