Tift Sheriff warns of warrant scam

If you've been getting calls from the Tift County Sheriff's Office about paying a fine over the phone, don't be worried as it is a scam.

Officials with the Tift County Sheriff's Office, they've been getting reports about a man identifying himself as Officer Hart. He then told the victims that a warrant had been issued for their arrest due to missing jury duty.

However, they could get the warrant dismissed by paying the fine over the phone.

The Tift County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff's says they will not call to solicit payment of fines or fees over the telephone and they have never conducted business in this manner.

If you recieve a phone call asking for money tied to a fine, you are asked to hang up and contact the Sheriff's Office at (229)388-6090.
