Despite the rain, organizers of the first Tift Park Community Market say it was a success.
About 70 vendors were at Tift Park early to set up Saturday morning. The park was full before the rain started to move in just before 11 a.m.
There was fresh produce, crafts, artists, representatives from the UGA County Extension Office and more.
The goal is to get more people to come to the park and for the market to go on for years.
Steve Brimberry of the Friends of Tift Park grassroots organization talked about how this all started.
"It started on Facebook, social media, grassroots," Brimberry said. "We're up to 750 members. We started back in March. Our motto is 'preserve, protect and promote Tift Park.'"
The market is at the park every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
