Tift County Commissioner Melissa Chevers told FOX 31 the city and county have entered into negotiations with a new county-wide disposal service, Golden Waste.
Chevers says because of financial troubles they had to find a new vendor to handle these services for the county and after much review and consideration, they felt the local company Golden Waste was their best choice.
They decided to go into negotiations with them meaning they're still figuring out how long the contract will be for. Chevers says it could be anywhere from one to five years.
When asked if the residents will feel the effects of the change, Chevers says she thinks the transition will be so smooth that no one will even notice a difference.
