After a 4-to-1 vote by the Downtown Development Authority, "The Flint" restaurant now has approval to open in Downtown Albany at 112 Pine Avenue.

Albany Fish Company Owner Glenn Singfield says that it has been quite the effort to get the restaurant open and has been trying since January 2016.

Singfield says the new restaurant will not affect the Albany Fish Company and they are hoping to open by September with around 40 employees.

While famous for their seafood, the restaurant will offer additional option including steak and chicken.

On September 26, 2017 Resolution 17-R162 was adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City, resulting in $623,000 to be used for the white box improvements of the restaurant space. The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to legally bind negotiated terms between The Flint and the Albany Dougherty Inner City Authority for the repayment of the funded improvements.

The Flint's ownership has also secured a loan amounting to $433,000 and personally invested $200,000 into the venture according to city officials.
