The affect Daylight Saving Time has on crime

If you noticed it got a little darker earlier than normal, that's because daylight saving time is upon us again. And as the sun goes down earlier, could that mean the crime rate goes up?

If you noticed it got a little darker earlier than normal, that's because Daylight Saving Time is upon us again.

And as the sun goes down earlier, could that mean the crime rate goes up?

FOX 31 News talked with officers with the Dougherty County Police Department, they say you shouldn't worry.

But with that said, officials say always follow your instincts

Lieutenant Anthony Rogers with the Dougherty County Police Department says, "when you get ready to go into the business you might want to leave your car lights on a little longer just to make sure that the window hasn't been broken into or anything before you actually jump out and go inside."

Lieutenant Rogers adds that it's the holiday season so this is the time you should always be on high alert.
