Temporary sheriff appointed for Worth County
One day after suspending Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has appointed a temporary sheriff.
In a new executive order, Deal announced that Bobby G. Sapp will fill the position pending the final disposition of the charges against Hobby or until the expiration of his term of office, whichever occurs first.
Sapp was formerly a chief deputy at the Worth County Sheriff's Office.
This comes after a Tuesday morning announcement that a civil suit filed over a search in April has reached a tentative settlement.
