Students attending a technical college and accepting grants from the Georgia lottery are facing some changes.
Recipients of the HOPE (Help Outstanding Pupils Educationally) Scholarship grant now have a limited number of academic credit hours that they can use their awarded money for.
The president for Albany Technical College says students also have to maintain a 3.0 grade point average after the half-way point of their education.
"The students who have lost their scholarship were the students who just did not have the GPA at the midpoint but also they have an opportunity for a Pell Grant and student loans and other types of financial aid," said Albany Technical College President Dr. Anthony Parker.
HOPE grants typically pay for certificate and diploma enrollment when it comes to the technical college system.
