Teacher of the Year winner announced at annual DCSS banquet
After two weeks of introducing the Dougherty County Teacher of the Year finalists, the wait is finally over.
This year's winner is Kanese Rachel from Lincoln Elementary Magnet School.
On Thursday, the Dougherty County School System hosted a banquet to honor all of the finalist for their hard work and dedication. The announcement was made at the banquet.
This is Rachel's seventh year teaching at Lincoln Elementary. She teaches third grade language arts and social studies.
"No student is the same," Rachel said. "Teaching is not cookie cutter, so we have to make sure that we instruct the students based on the needs that they have and also based on their interests because I never want them to be bored with the materials that I am giving them."
